Pickerel Lake via the Pines Trail. Get to know this 6.9-mile out-and-back trail near Atikokan, Ontario. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 25 min to complete. This is a popular trail for camping, hiking, and snowshoeing, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.Trail riding is NOT allowed in the early spring due to wetness. There are three parking/access points for the Parrish/Highlands trail. On a peninsula on the southern side of Promised Land Lake, Pickerel Point has 75 campsites and three camping cottages. Limited sites and the camping cottages are open year round. The campground has rustic walk-to sites, sites with electric hookups and full hookup sites. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Promised Land offers a beautiful rustic camp setting while at the same time providing some of the modern amenities folks tend to look for these days. Bathrooms are modern and clean with showers. Each facility also offers laundry machines and sinks for tenters to do dishes.
