powermonger525. Posted August 3, 2003. I have a complete description of setting up a XR650L for long distance travel, including uncorking. As an afternote- the 165 main was good at sea level but way too rich up high (no surprise). Price.Feb 1, 2007 · Posted February 1, 2007. From what I gathered from www.bikez.com, the DR650 has 43 hp and 40 ft-lbs and the xr650 has 61 hp and 50 ft-lbs, both rated at the flywheel. They are both listed as the same dry weight and are identical in most other aspects except the xr650 has a smaller tank of 2.8 gal vs 3.2 for the DR.

Kicking is no problem unless it gets hot or one ...Even if you read your Dynojet papers - they described in mine the popping during deceleration and stated that main jet and needle doesn't do a thing. Either way exhaust leaks, vacuum leaks on the carb or fuel mixture screw / pilot jet. My XRL has the K&N filter, BigGun race series, DynoJet, and smog stuff removed.The Honda also comes with an 18-inch rear wheel, the Suzuki 17-inch. The Suzuki holds more fuel at 3.4 gallons, the Honda 2.8 gallons. And here's a possible sticking point for some when it comes to the XR—the Honda's seat height is significantly higher than the Suzuki's at 37.0 inches, versus 34.8 inches for the DR.

Keep carb stock (probably not recommended though because of increased engine temps, it's debatable though), stay off heavy throttle, stay under 60mph,, air up tires. I had a XR600 with the works....bored over, radical cam, 12:1 compression, carb. (not as nice as yours) header, muffler, different timing and It read 47hp at Superior Dyno Tune in the early 90's. To deactivate the auto decompressor, turn the engine slowly in the normal direction of running (CCW looking at the timing hole) until you hear a "click" from the valvetrain area, might take 2-3 cycles, this is the decomp releasing.
