As I recall a better comparison would be to a Mikuni with a flat needle rather than a conical tapered needle and maybe an externally adjustable main jet.. Other than that there's little difference. Lectrons are pretty old tech. I'm sure an FCR is superior in nearly every aspect.I've tried lots of different carbs on my many XT's on my flat track/ice bike I've had 38 mikuni round slides, 38mm Lectron flat slides, and now a 39mm Keihin FCR. On my daily driver 77 XT500 dual sport bike I've had the stock 76-78 XT and TT carbs in both 32 & 34mm versions. All of these carbs have worked well once jetted correctly.
