This is because it appears the negative trait does not affect the character in any noticeable way, despite its description saying it decreases vision. Due to this, it’s a nice +2 point that contributes toward a positive trait. The worse level short sighted you have, the closer to your character the blurry-ness starts. Also, there should be 3 types of glasses, one for each level of short sightedness. This way if you find the right glasses, you can see mostly or completely normal. I use conspicuous all the time. Clumsy is not worth it at all for what little points you get. All conspicuous seems to do is increases the range that you get noticed by zombies. In this case, you can still break line of sight and be fine. But with clumsy you'll be easily tracked down.
If you are short-sighted and/or hard of hearing, combined with fatigue (and sometimes panic), you won't become alerted to a backstabber until they've already got their hands on you.
