So, I did this today on an alt who had the right companion up. I logged into work and had Wow running on my personal computer while I was working. I parked my alt in the right zone and then killed something every 5 minutes and looted the glinting object. I set an in game timer going for 5 minutes every time I looted one.I can't tell you if it lower the drop rate as it's pure luck, but I can tell you it still drop regardless.
