Ruger security six serial numbers
Hello all. I joined this forum in hopes that someone could help me identify a Single Six that I picked up a few days ago. It is a 3screw, 9.5 bbl, 22lr. The serial number is 156xxx. My books say that this gun did not come with a mag cylinder. The unknown is that the gun is chrome, or bright nickel plated. The only difference in any of the parts is the frame. The 150- s/n frame is shaped differently, most call it the "low back" frame. 151- and up are called "high back" frames.

I just looked through the RENE Reference of Ruger Firearms and missed this before. It says the roll die set for the Red Label shotgun was used for the six series with the small serial numbers. Known s/n range 154-04916 to 154-36577 and 154-58068 to 155-01064.
