Nuclear reactor. Once you've got fuel, you'll need

Compact, Smart 1.1 GW 2x4 nuclear plant "little witch" 1.1 GW of awesomeness. Features: Compact: probably the most compact design that maintains the correct ratio. Only 1 roboport is needed for entire construction. Perfect ratio. 1.1 GW sustained power with minimal materials One side water: very easy to connect to water, no need of landfill or ...Smart: insert fuel only when steam storage is low, no waste. Compact: the full 4 core plant is one of the more compact design. Setup: After connecting water, setting up fuel with belt, you need to manually insert 1 fuel into each reactor core to kickstart the plant. I didn't implement more complicate logics so this can be combinator-free.

Every reactor touching another gets 100% more production for each reactor it is touching. 1 reactor on its own is 40 mw, two reactors right next to eachother produces 80 mw each, for a total of 160. Next, to figure out how many heat exchangers you need, take the total heat output of the cores, and divide by 10. 480 mw of heat=48 heat exchangers. Now since recent changes 3/4 of my 140 turbines are getting no performance due to the heat lacking on the pipes. So my question is has anyone built an 8 reactor setup which is efficient with the new heat pipe changes, because I would love not to put down this broken BP again and have another wasted 3/4 turbines doing nothing. This seems awesome! My idea of what vanilla reactors should be like. Will download and play asap. Please consider to rename your mod and especially the research to something more fitting inside the milieu of the game, like Advanced Nuclear Reactor, Nuclear Reactor Mk2, Ingo's Reactor or so.Nuclear reactors are far far cheaper per MW than solar is (though maybe not including research now since the rework, for small setups). The input is roughly 10 uranium ore per reactor every 200 seconds (less if you're conserving fuel). Ratios for reactors vary depending on your setup due to the neighbor bonus.Setup: You have to connect a single steam tank, and the inserters managing the reactors, to the green wire network which is on the power poles. There are 4 reactors here, but it produces enough fuel rods to continuously supply up to 9 reactors, if I remember right. (8 reactors is ~16.7% more fuel efficient than 4, as long as you have enough ...Re: 20GW Nuclear Reactor Design. by mrvn » Thu Jul 13, 2017 9:35 am. In my own design I used an underground pipe between the heat exchangers and the steam turbines with pumps at both ends. This allows the unbotteling assembler to be placed between the two. No need for pumps for water at all.I see so many Nuclear Power designs here with severe issues; water flow, steam flow, heat flow. So I created my own together with the community as part of my Factorio Workshop sessions. It is a simple 4 Reactor build focused on optimal ratios for water/steam. This design is tileable with a continuous line of fuel inbound and used fuel outbound. So for 1TW nuclear power is obviously the way to go. With neighborhood bonuses, A perfect square would be the most efficient. A 71×71 setup would work, but I doubt the heat pipes can be extended far enough to dissipate all the generated heat (I'm running the latest Factorio version, currently .16.13, which includes the heat pipe fix from 0.15 ...160MW Nuclear Setup, no waste w/ minimal storage tanks. by BlakeMW » Thu May 25, 2017 4:17 pm. This is a fairly compact 160MW nuclear setup that doesn't use an excessive amount of storage tanks. Under normal usage it can easily buffer a complete fuel cycle - perhaps this post is more intended as a demonstration that heaps of steam tanks are ...14 reactors = 14 * 40 = 560MW. 16 neighbors = 16 * 80 = 1280MW. SUM = 1840MW. 212 heat exchangers = 2120MW converted. 360 turbines, max 2088MW to power. Still, it's a pretty build and gives a lot of power, so that's a win in my eyes! 7.This can also be resolved with SR-latches but this setup is simpler and requires only one variable (X) per switch. X determines the power source priority. For priority #1, we set X to 100. For priority #2, we set X to something lower, e.g. 95. For priotiy #3, we set X to e.g. 90. Let's see how this works with an example: Suppose the ...I haven't gotten to nuclear power yet in my current map, but I'm considering a 3x3 setup, just to be different. If the increased heat output per neighbour is more than 25%, it would make sense as the added efficiency would be 100%+, at the cost of one reactor without heat pipes out. That is if it's even possible to supply a reactor in the middle.Re: Loading nuclear reactors. by ftbreizhbugs » Sun May 07, 2017 10:05 pm. o/. You're 9 reactors have an effective value of 21, to run 20 heat exchangers you only need a effective value of 5. You could get that with on 3 rectors, two together (touching) and one separated. I have 4 reactors each with a 5 fuel cell requester chest. Bots keep that filled and take spent ones to a single centrifuge which has plenty of time to create a new fuel cell. Certainly I'll run out of 238 at some point but the amount that i acquired during my initial enrichment process seems near infinite for this reactor setup.4 reactors nuclear plant without logistic chests. by fly » Wed Jul 19, 2017 7:14 pm. Just another 4 reactors setup. This is tradeoff between compactness, aesthetics (or symmetry, if you will ) and Logistic network embargo. It's 4 reactors - 48 heat exchangers - 84 steam turbines - 48 storage tanks - 5 offshore pumps (not visible on screenshot).4 reactors should give you 1500MW of energy because of 0.25 neighbor bonus in K2. In 1000 seconds, that's 1500GJ of energy. Each heat exchanger converts 50MW of heat and 250 water into 250 units of steam per second. In (20 / 4 * 200) = 1000 seconds, we make 30 * 1000 * 250 = 7.5M units of steam, as expected. Each turbine eats 50 steam and spits ...Jan 29, 2021 · Re: Modular 2xN nuclear power plant. by mward » Thu Feb 25, 2021 4:42 pm. My version is designed to be built with the middle part over a lake which is filled in with landfill, leaving two narrow trenches in the middle for the water pumps. After placing the blueprint, fill in the trench and add the last two pieces of heatpipe.

Saving the number of reactors you have to make and build, is a bit more important. Of course, more reactors will also mean more fuel cells needed to get the same 10 GW as well. Being pig-headed about it, I've made my own reactor prints. They are not as good as what's available from the factorio dot school collection though. Might be worth a ...The heat interface set to 1000˚ will mimic a reactor with unbounded power output, giving you a theoretical maximum distance on your heat pipe setup. The electric interface can be set to draw effectively unlimited power from the system to stress test it, just make sure your pumps are on a different power grid from your turbines.…

Accu: 5 MJ / 4 tiles = 1.25 MJ/tile. Storage tank: A turbine consumes 60 steam/second for an output of 5.8 MW (500°C) or 1.8 MW (165°C). Thats why its six centrigues in one block. Enougth for +100 reactors and some nuclear weapons, assoon you have them. You can expand it, and its still cheap and simple. Centrifgues will storage +80 U-235 then. I would rather copy the 6-Stack, if you need more in the endgame. The problem is that your turbine ratios are wrong. This reactor is effectively 2 2x2 reactors, each of which is powering 192 turbines. A 2x2 reactor can only create enough power for 48 exchangers and 83 turbines, which is why power dropped and only half of your reactors are powered. See this for reactor ratios. 1. Alternatively some lines could be bigger than the others, and For water, you need to bring water from several more sources. If you used 2x4 reactor setup, you would get more energy out of each unit of fuel. You can also get bottlenecked by pipes very easily. You don't have any pumps and a single pipe is serving loads of turbines here. The easiest way to get water to your nuclear plant is to simply place your nuclear plant in the water.
