The mycologists don't make sense in general. I guess they are the representation of "Big Ear", and his plan to hide the old data amongst the floppy disk to bring it back to the states. This is something I observed while playing the new Kaycee's mod, when I hit a mycologist, I am forced to fuse creatures no matter what.In the overworld the mushroom-guys on the right experiment on your cards. Doing so 4 times gives you a key for the next act. The monster in the crypt's basement wants an offering. In a fight you can put two broken Obols next to each other, to gain a full Obol.It definitely feels like something is missing, especially with the hints toward the evil blue triangle being the ultimate villian.
