The Dregs was meant to be run around level 17-20 so you shouldn't struggle too much. I’m not sure if the environmental acid will hurt your thrall, but Relic Hunters should be fine regardless. They’ve got really good health. The acid shouldn't kill your thrall - it was nerfed to make that very unlikely.

Since you're on Single Player, as a workaround for now (wouldn't expect bugs to get fixed any time soon), you can probably just turn on Ghost, then fly down through to the stairs, then use Walk to turn Ghost off. Bug Report. Me and my friends tried doing The Dregs dungeon and got to the end. However, the boss just sits there and does nothing but stare at us, we can't kill it with arrows as it heals too quickly and because we're melee we can't reach it as it sits in the acid pool and we die. We've even tried restarting the dungeon 3 times.
