While I haven't actually crunched the number, I believe it is one of the most competitive fields in all of medicine to obtain, based on the number of applicants vs slots. A university program is almost a must.The ERAS fellowship numbers for the 2021 cycle just came out. Looks like the number of applicants for Cardiovascular Disease went up from 1568 to 1776 so up about 13%, with increased USMDs, DOs, and IMG applicants.
