Sound you hear is the starter solenoid. You need to check to see if the starter is getting voltage when hitting start button. If it is, then its the starter. If no voltage to starter, its the solenoid. 1 2. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread.ATV Starter Solenoid Test 2. Simply disconnect the back probe from your battery's positive terminal, while keeping in place the connections from the first test. Connect the multimeter to the solenoid's main connectors and set it to a resistance test. You should see "OL" once connected, indicating an open circuit.Then turn it over and let the oil lube stuff for a second. If the motor turns over quicker but not fast, do it again. You likely have a bit of rust in the cylinder bores and other places. The oil will help things get back while letting the motor remove the crap. The fuel in the spark plug hole is a quick way to tell if there's a fuel issue, if it tries to startup or temporarily starts then you know there's a problem in the fuel system. If you put positive side of battery to the lug on side of starter and it didnt instantly crank over your starter is toast or the battery lost all its cranking amps. Try it from a good car battery with a jumper cable. If you still get nothing the starter is toast.May 20, 2012 · If it jumps off to the side, the spark isn't strong enough. Most 4-wheeler problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars and the seat!! You only need two tools in life -- WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. The angle sensor is at the back of the motor on the same shaft.
