The Lower Cambrian black shales in South China are commonly host to Mo–Ni–V and platinum group elements (PGE) deposits. 1−12 These mineralized layers can be traced along the synchronous stratigraphic horizon up to 2000 km, 13 with deposits of industrial importance developed in some areas.
