I don't think faith needs to be touched that much, and I don't generally feel that Ethiopia is so far ahead in my games that a large nerf is necessary, but I do agree that some nerf is in order. I do recommend Ethiopia as a top-tier Wide/Faith empire if you don't choose to go the traditional Tradition path. Instead go liberty, and build Steeles immediately, and then shrines. And after that, build temples, for a whopping +5 faith in each city.
