My Kat Eyz capo is top-quality. A little different style compared to the Elliot, but I certainly plan on giving Phil at Kat Eyz more of my business in the future.

I have a variety in a variety of different materials including Elliott, KatEyz, Crary, Colorado, Paige, Shubb, G7, John Pearse, Hlavaty, Paige and some other yoke-styles showing no brand name. The Kat Eyz has a 1/4" screw which makes it quicker to spin up AND limits the amount of pressure immediately applied. I do make and offer a 3/8" knurled thumbscrew but it does bring with it a little caution because you can really torque up a capo!. Great thread!! I ordered it for 16" for when my HD28 arrives, but it works great on my 12" Takamine beater too, so it's not just gonna be teasing me over the coming months haha. Either way, it's been a great experience and if anyone's been considering one of these I couldn't recommend Phil and Kat Eyz enough.

The Kat Eyz has a "top gate", if I'm interpreting what you mean correctly - the top unclamps and then swings open to get the capo on and off.
