The espeak-data files have been modified slightly. Currently espeak-ng can read espeak data, but espeak cannot read espeak-ng data. I can make it so that espeak-ng uses a different voice data so that both espeak and espeak-ng can be installed on the same machine without problems. The espeak-ng project does not include espeakedit.The python package you're trying to install is a wrapper, meaning it allows you to use the espeak functionality from within python. Once you have espeak installed, make sure it's included in your PATH environment variable.
