Sounds like you got one of those rare, lemon Bearcats. If you've tried it with a variety of ammo and the problem persists, a call to Ruger CS is in order. Let us know what they say. What you have is the original version of the Bearcat made in 1968, it has an aluminum frame and a gold tone aluminum anodized trggerguard. They were introduced in 1958 and in production until 1970. They were replaced with a steel frame version called the Super Bearcat in 1971and made thru 1974.The Bearcat disapears on my belt in a good holster, it isn't much more than carrying a belt knife. The Single Six, by virtue of it's adjustable sights and varying barrel lengths, is inherently more accurate. The Bearcat is a much better looking handgun. The Single Six always seemed oversized to me....like it should be a .32 or a .38.

The Norseman 3000 is simply an evolution of the Bearcat 3000lt. Main differences are : -154 track instead of 146. - 1.6 Cobra instead of 1.3. - New body panels and colors. - Articulated track. The only good reason for me to buy a Bearcat over a Norseman would be the price.

That's actually a fair description for what the adjustable sights do for this inherently accurate little 22 single action.Bearcats were discontinued in late 1970 and the Super Bearcats started production in 1971. Decided to get back into it and was digging into my kits trying to decide on a project. I kept seeing the Bearcat kit and thought that was a cool looking airplane, but was concerned.The Super Bearcat, which has a one piece, investment cast steel cylinder frame/grip frame assembly, has a digit prefix serial number beginning with 91, therefore the gun in question must be s/n 91-00026. If that's the case then the value could be in the $600-$900 range. The Super Bearcat was introduced in 1971.
