Took him FOREVER to find a buyer at $200, then the person that finally bought it was happy as a clam to have found it. FYI...not all 3970010 castings are high nickel. I included past this number so that you can see that the number you posted doesn't actually exist. And thus my conclusion that the 9 is most likely a 0.OK, there is no number number or pad like you mention. . .anywhere on the block. . .there is the number 0288 on the back of the block ~centerline on the top of the bellhousing mating surface and there is this number series on the driver's side of the block towards the rear 010 020 171. . .the only other number on the block anywhere is a larging casting number S 010 on both sides of the block ...The 3970010 block were a good place to "start" when looking for a high nickel content block.
