The result is that CPU encoded files are typically either higher quality for the same size, or a smaller file size for the same quality. GPU encoding on the other hand is more power efficient than CPU encoding.For the file transcoding we use x264 with the faster preset and thats probably the only place it might be quicker with nvenc (not sure about quality) BUT file transcoding imho is not that needed anymore since we now have live stream transcoding for unsupported files. ...
