You can search for Potent or Fortified Nirncrux in traders, and ask guildmates to craft you the specific pieces you need for research. Or, you can use the filters to specify weapons or armor with the Nirnhoned trait. That way, you don't actually have to type in a search, and can cast a wide net while browsing.
