Best year of duramax
In your opinion, what is the best year model Duramax I could get with a $21,000 budget (in Texas mind you) and why? Keep in mind, the newer the model, the higher the miles it will have in order to fit my budget. Mainly looking at reliability for the long haul and avoiding major pitfalls that have plagued my LB7 (injectors and HGs).I’d get a 2012 crew cab 4x4 z71 with the 5.3. I know it’s not the V6 or the duramax or a ZR2. But I love the 1st gen body style. And the 5.3 is a rock solid drivetrain and powerful too. I love my 1st gen and while the 3.7 is adequate, it’s definitely lacking. A 2012 with the 5.3 would be perfect in my eyes.The most common choice for truck shoppers is Duramax 6.6L engines.
