The Lab Ray is completely random. There is really no such thing as luck. I once spent close to 3 weeks zapping a pet without any notable color change. I ultimately pounded the pet and gave up. On the other hand, just this week I started zapping a Poogle. On day 1, zap #3 (I had 2 extra per day) he turned MSP.The Petpet lab map can do the same things as the Neopet lab ray. It can change your Petpet species, color and level. Often Petpets turn into a pile if sludge. This is a lab ray only color, just as chocolate, gold and strawberry.
